Milagros
Original Classical Banjo Compositions

Tim Weed's highly acclaimed MILAGROS is a collection of his new classical compositions for the banjo. These solo works are presented with baroque, romantic, chromatic, modern, Spanish, French, Russian, and exotic influences.  This album includes Tim's most complex composition, "Colloquium: Dark and Light," an emotional and dynamic 17-minute exploration.  The recorded banjo tone is rich and warm and sometimes reminiscent of the harp, piano, and even the sitar. Milagros takes you on an emotional voyage into the private world of this 5-string banjo virtuoso.

Praise for Milagros

"Tim Weed plays the banjo, and like a few other banjo players, he plays classical music on the banjo.  But Tim Weed's classical music is new music that he composed for the banjo.  Milagros is a fascinating CD."
BOB BOILEN, National Public Radio

"[Milagros] is really great! It's spent a lot of time in my player since it arrived. I especially like Granada Vox."
BILL KEITH, Banjo Pioneer

"Although I don't normally publicize CD's, I'm going to make an exception in this case. I was just sent a copy of a CD of Tim Weed... it's all original tunes, a great CD. He takes the banjo further than most. I recommend this CD highly. He plays chromatic banjo extraordinarily well... I loooove his banjo playing!
BOBBY THOMPSON, 5-String Banjo Innovator

"We gave it a listen and loved it."
ROBIN HILTON, National Public Radio, Assoc. Producer

"There's a group of musicians who have redefined the banjo. People like Bela Fleck, Tony Trischka, and Bill Keith . . .Tim Weed is one of those musicians."
DUANE INGLISH, Live Oak Music Festival

"I am amazed when a banjoist can approach a classical piece. I truly enjoy Bela Fleck's classical explorations or those by John McEuen. But this is different. This is entirely original music that is both contemporary and classic. Milagros is vital new music conceived and performed to exploit the unique capabilities of this instrument... Tim's technique is magnificent... His playing is masterful and his sound is simply spectacular."
JOHN BALCH, Chairman of Judging of the National Banjo Championships

"If Bach had been a bluegrass musician, his fugues would be like this, I suppose. And if all banjo players could play like this one, there would be no banjo jokes."
BERTRAM HENZE

"Never, ever, anywhere, any time, anyplace have I heard anything as incredible as Tim's artistry on his new CD release, Milagros. The subtleties alone are a spine-tingling experience for the serious music listener. Key changes in the middle of his intricate chording will test your belief in motion. I feel and hear Tim's heart beat on those strings. 'At this point you have to whisper, and there have to be other points where there's planned chaos,' to quote Charles Mingus. Yes! Tim's banjo whispers, and the chaos is planned and passionately executed in these compositions. It is music from everywhere - classical, folk, jazz, eastern, western, the world. I doubt any banjoist on today's music scene can touch his genius!
KATIE LEE

"Awesome CD of classical banjo that will blow your mind!"
